set up two one-day workshops
to show you some of
her techniques for creating
photorealistic oil paintings!
In each class she will
help you to understand
the importance of controlling
edges to create realistic
illusions, transparency
vs. opacity, and how
to see reflected light.
These two workshops
are created to complement
one another –
you can take one or
both!

It’s
All Relative! Friday,
Sept. 24, 10am–5pm
Learn to see and paint
true value and temperature
- the often overlooked
4th property of color.
You’ll create
a limited palette
painting incorporating
these principles as
you go. Once you add
these tools to your
arsenal, your paintings
will be changed forever.

Many Colors! Saturday,
Sept. 25, 10am - 5pm
A methodical and rational
way to organize your palette
and mix true colors! Why
reinvent the wheel when
you can learn and explore
these tried and true painting
methods. Terry will share
her palette technique
condensed from 30 years
experience.

Combining the
historical technique
of limp vellum
binding with
modern approaches
to layering
translucent
imagery, Doug
has paved a
new avenue for
exploring complex
narratives and
concepts in
the book format.
Expand your
creative limits
as you learn
new and experimental
ways of expressing
yourself with
transparent
imagery. Emphasis
will be on using
acrylic ink
and paint as
a water medium.
Students will
make rubbings,
trace, and draw
textures into
layered
content
in their books.
You will also
learn tackett
sewing and how
to

attach bone clasp
enclosures to bind
and secure the book.

method of
carving. Learn
the basics
of carving
polystyrene
foam using
Hot Wire Foam
Factory tools
and a few
everyday tools.
You will experience
the versatility
of this sculpting
material and
will learn
how to select
a surface
finishing
medium during
this one day,
intensive
workshop.
Demonstrations
will be followed
by hands-on
projects with
a finial discussion
at the end
of the day
to answer
any questions.

Wilson: Encaustic Workshop |

Learn
how to paint with pigmented
hot wax, incorporating
rich colors with mixed
media to create paintings
with a celestial glow.
Encaustic painting offers
incredible working properties
such as: layering color
upon color with immediacy
without concerns for "fat
over lean", no concern
for drying time as encaustic
paintings can be reworked
immediately or even years
later simply with the
addition of heat. She
will also teach techniques
that reveal underlying
colors.
